PPO conduct special investigation at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) are conducting a special investigation into the disturbance which occurred at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre on 28-29 April 2023 at the request of the Director General of Immigration Enforcement at the Home Office.

We have been asked to investigate and report on the decisions, actions and circumstances surrounding the disturbance and subsequent escapes.
