Adrian Usher becomes Prisons and Probation Ombudsman
Today, Adrian Usher has taken over from Kimberley Bingham as the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
Adrian had an extensive career as a Senior Police Officer at the Metropolitan Police Service and was most recently a Commander for Learning and Development, where he led training across policing operations.
Adrian was selected as Prisons and Probation Ombudsman following a rigorous assessment process and was appointed by the Secretary of State for Justice.
Adrian said: “I am thrilled to take over as the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
My office carries out independent investigations into complaints and deaths in custody, and it is important that we continue to build the trust of those who use our services. We will be evidence based, timely and insightful in all the matters we investigate.
We have a key role in contributing to the improvement of safety in prisons, and we can do this by maximising the impact of our complaints and fatal incident investigations even further”.
