IPCI Ambassadors, a complaints scheme, now available in 57 prisons
Phase three of IPCI Ambassadors launches today, with the scheme now live in a further 10 prisons.
An IPCI Ambassador is a voluntary role carried out by prisoners who signpost others in their prison to support around their complaint.
We are pleased to announce that IPCI Ambassadors are available in 57 prisons in total, which is almost half of adult prisons.
IPCI Ambassador schemes are going live in the following prisons today:
- HMP Bedford
- HMP Dovegate
- HMP Garth
- HMP Gartree
- HMP Guys Marsh
- HMP Highpoint
- HMP Hull
- HMP Morton Hall
- HMP Stocken
- HMP Wealstun
This would not have happened without the valuable ideas and contributions from both staff and our prisoner ambassadors.
When my staff have visited prisons and met with ambassadors, the prisoner volunteers have told us how proud they are to be able to share their knowledge and help others understand how to make a complaint.”
If your loved one is in prison and they need help with a complaint, they can find their IPCI Ambassador in participating prisons by looking out for prisoners wearing branded IPCI Ambassador materials such as armbands or lanyards.
