Prisons and Probation Ombudsman Adrian Usher said:
“After the initial launch of the scheme, we received dozens of letters from prisoners asking if the Ambassador scheme would be introduced in their prison.
Although the scheme is relatively new, feedback we have received is showing its helping improve prisoner and staff relationships, as well as ensuring prisoners know how and when to raise complaints to us.
The scheme has been doing a great job in steering prisoners in the right direction to raise local complaints correctly. I’m pleased that prisoners want to be a part of this”.
If your loved one is in prison and they need help with a complaint, they can find their IPCI Ambassador in participating prisons by looking out for prisoners wearing branded IPCI Ambassador materials such as armbands or lanyards. View the full list of participating IPCI Ambassador prisons here.
